HIV - Damals. Heute. Morgen.

episode-1

PD Dr. med. Johannes Nemeth, Infectiologist, University Hospital of Zurich.

Episode 1: One third of people living with HIV in Switzerland have mental health problems

As a young resident, Johannes Nemeth first encountered HIV in Central Africa. Since then, he has had a personal mission in confronting the virus. Today, as an infectious disease specialist at the University Hospital Zurich, he supports people living with HIV throughout their life journey.

episode-2

Prof. Dr. med. Huldrych Günthard Infectiologist and HIV-Specialist, University Hospital of Zurich.

Episode 2: There are no resistances when these therapies are followed correctly

Modern HIV therapies are now considered a major medical breakthrough. People who adhere consistently to treatment do not develop resistance and can lead long, stable lives. The profound transformation of the situation is illustrated by a scene from the 1990s recalled by Huldrych Günthard: when the first combination therapies became effective, "people returned from hospices." A turning point that made the progress of medical development tangible.

episode-3

Prof. Dr. med. Helen Kovari Infectiologist, Hirslanden Clinic.

Episode 3: People living with HIV tend to be very health-conscious.

Ageing means becoming more aware of one's own health. Comorbidities are common in people living with HIV and often occur earlier than in the general population. Helen Kovari highlights why regular check-ups and ongoing medical care are essential: they help detect risks early and enable timely intervention.
